The secret muse
From my journal, 23 July 2008:
“I read today Pamela Jaye Smith, talking about the nature of storytellers, as unique beings in the world, living dangerously and exploring mankind and its possibilities on behalf of the rest of the human race in ways that are necessary and awesome. And I realised that to live up to what the Almighty has prepared for me , is up to me, and me only. I was filled with such joy in that moment, I can’t even tell you. I don’t know any more today than I did yesterday or when I climbed in my car on the morning of the 13th of May*, what lies ahead, but I look forward to it with a new lightness of being.”
*13 May 2008 was the day of my car accident on the way to Johannesburg.
